Clare began playing the horn at the age of 12 with Willi Watson. A member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for 4 years, for two years she was Principal Horn. She studied at The Royal Academy of Music in London with Derek Taylor, and was a busy freelance player in and around London.
During her playing career, Clare has performed, recorded and toured with all the major London orchestras, including the BBC Symphony, the London Symphony, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, City of London Sinfonia, Philharmonia and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia. She has also played with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Orchestra, Brighton Philharmonic, and La Camerata, Athens Chamber Orchestra. As well as performing, Clare enjoys a busy teaching career both locally to home, in East Sussex and in London.

Rules
All classes are for any brass instruments. All classes are Own Choice. A piece can be taken from any current examination syllabus or a piece appropriate to the standard of that Grade. The adjudicator reserves the right to determine whether or not the piece is to the appropriate standard. Time limit should allow for tuning adjustments.
A grade 8 class cannot be entered if more than a year has elapsed after achieving Grade 8.
The Robert Bouffler Music Trust can help with the cost of an accompanist! The Trust will consider requests for mini-grants of up to £35. Please note that grants are intended to support families of limited means. If you live or go to school in East Surrey/Tandridge, and would like to apply for a mini-grant up to £35, email the Trust’s Hon. Secretary at barbara@rbmt.org.uk, giving your address, school attended, the Section/Class you are entering, and the name and email address of your accompanist (as the Trust will pay them directly).
